So you’re a medium, huh?

I’ve found there’s no faster way to end a conversation with a stranger than when they ask what I do for a living. No one expects what I’m about to tell them, and many people don’t know how to react. Some folks squirm, some ask polite questions, and some question my mental health. Trust me, I get it! Before Spirit began to communicate with me, I was the biggest skeptic, and I would have trouble believing what I do if it weren’t for my experiences. I always welcome a respectful skeptic and am so grateful for considerate questions and kindness. That’s why I thought it important to share with you what to expect once you sign up for a reading, and some of the common questions I receive!

What is the difference between a Medium and a Psychic?

All psychics are not mediums...but all mediums are psychic.

Just like all surgeons are doctors but not all doctors are surgeons, a medium is a specialist. A psychic tunes into the “aura” or energy field of the person they’re reading, and while a Medium can also do this, they’re also able to tune into the energy field of a person who no longer has a physical body.

Sadly, there are many fakes and frauds, and some “psychics” who claim to be Mediums and are not. While I deliver readings via phone, I do not recommend hotlines, Pay-by-the-minute psychics, or networks. Please be careful and check credentials, as all psychics are not equal. Remember that all reputable and authentic psychic mediums will have their fees clearly stated.

How Spirits Communicate with me and my Psychic Abilities

As a psychic medium, I am Clairvoyant, which means “Clear-Seeing.” I can “see” spirits and images they show me. I am Clairaudient, which means “Clear-Hearing,” so I can hear them speaking to me in my thoughts, telepathically. I will hear names, nicknames, names of places, and other words. Some spirits will whisper to me while some will have direct conversations.

I am “Clairsentient,” meaning I can feel or sense their emotions, pains or injuries they had while in their physical body. I can also sense their personalities, like if they had a great sense of humor, or were stern and serious, etc. I am also “Clairambient,” meaning spirits will occasionally give me a smell that is very symbolic of them. I have Remote Viewing abilities as well, meaning I can psychically tune into a person or a place somewhere else in the physical realm. As a Medical Intuitive, I may also receive health and wellness information in readings pertaining to your physical body.

Every Spirit communicates with me differently.

Some will show me visual images and symbols, while others prefer to “speak” to me with thoughts. As everyone on the physical plane has different personalities, so do spirits. Some are great at this way of communication, and some spirits are very new to it, yet no matter who comes through to me, I have faith in whatever way Spirit chooses to communicate their messages through me. 

Imagine sitting in a room with your eyes closed. Without hearing them, imagine someone walking into the room, standing behind you. You can’t see or hear them, yet you know they’re there. You’re sensing their energy, and that’s very similar to how I experience Spirit. I sense them, and then they choose how they want to communicate with me. Sometimes, it’s with words, sometimes with smells or tastes, sometimes with symbols, and most often with feeling. I often describe what I do as translating emotion and feeling. Every reading is different, just as every spirit is different.

What is a Reading like?

First, you do not need to bring personal items or pictures with you to your reading. If you do, please don’t show them to me before the reading! I start with setting the intention for our session, and if you haven’t been able to watch the introductory email sent with your appointment confirmation email, I’ll give you a quick run-down of how I found this path and what you can expect. Then, Spirit steps forward, providing me with an array of information as to who they are and what their relationship with you is. Over thousands of readings, the common denominator is always the well-being of the person I’m sitting with. They’ll not only provide you with validation and evidence of who they are, they’ll also dive into what they see from their “thousand-foot view” and how they believe you can find healing and peace in your life. Their main priority is healing - emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual.

Skepticism

I believe everyone should have a healthy skepticism about psychic mediums and the process you should expect. Just like in any other field, you have very good psychic mediums with true ability and integrity in their work, some fakes and frauds, and a few who have some ability but practice without much integrity or compassion. Psychic Mediums will have different levels of ability, skill, and experience, just like in any other profession.

It’s important to do your work and find a legitimate and reputable psychic medium. I hear too many stories from my clients of prior bad experiences and a lot of bad experiences from carnival workers who are trained to spit out the same script every time someone sits down. Please remember that just because someone may have some psychic abilities doesn’t necessarily mean they’re very spiritually aware or coming from a place of integrity.

In society we have good police and bad police, great doctors operating from a place of humane compassion, and doctors who are only in it for the money, and the field of Psychic Mediums is no different. Please check references and do your research on the individual, just like you would do hiring someone to put a new roof on your home.

I never ask for personal information, birthdays, photographs, or anything else. I prefer to know absolutely nothing about the person I’m about to read for. You can even set your appointment in someone else’s name if it makes you feel more secure...alright by me!

Once you’ve found a reputable Psychic Medium, it is important to come to any reading with an open mind. If someone has already definitely decided in their mind that my abilities and gifts aren’t real, it’s very difficult to change that belief. This is especially true if that person has some religious or scientific beliefs that make them afraid of the process.

Even if I come through with the most mind-blowing and detailed information, the closed or fearful person will rationalize away the experience, just so they find a way to support their already-held belief...that there’s no way this can all be real. I find this to be the truest with people who have a lot of fear or misunderstand death, a strong need to be in control, or feel that the process somehow threatens what they’ve already decided to be the “truth.”

Leave your Preconceived Notions at Home

If you want to have the best reading possible, it’s a good idea to have a few questions ready to ask along the way or specify a focus for your reading. You can let me have that focus at the beginning of the reading (love, health, work, for example), or you can let me bring forth any information that comes to me. Please remember that I cannot control the world of Spirit, and neither can you. The most important thing to remember is that the world of Spirit doesn’t adhere to the laws of logic and reason that we do here in the world of the Physical. This won’t be a rational or logical process.

There is a whole set of laws present in the world of Spirit that is very different than how things operate here in the physical plane. It’s so important for you to realize that you’re not in control of this process, as I am not. I simply act as a channel. Any attempt to control or direct the reading, the spirits, or the information coming through will only cut off the energy flow and make the reading very difficult. It may also adversely affect your reading and your experience. If someone is ungrateful, controlling, or demanding spirits may stop communicating, information will stop flowing, and the reading will end.

It’s important to be “open” to whatever and whoever comes through. I am only bringing you the message you need to hear in life right now. A message that may seem unimportant during the reading will often have major significance in the future. It’s always best to keep an open mind!

It is very important to remember that not all information that comes through at the time of the reading will make sense. It may never make sense, or it may make sense in three days, three weeks, months, or years.

Please do not dismiss any of this information as wrong or incorrect. This is exactly why I give you a recording of your session, so that you might listen to it again and have information validated in the future. Spirits will pass along information, symbols, and words that will only make sense later on, validating that the spirit of your loved one did come through. When and if this happens, do your homework and ask around your circle of family and friends about any information that might not initially make sense.

Why do I do what I do?

Many people wonder why I do what I do. It’s tough work and can be emotionally and physically exhausting. For all that, the fulfillment I receive from this work and the healing people receive from this work are the main reasons I do what I do. I don’t do this work to change or challenge anyone’s beliefs, and I certainly don’t need anyone to believe in me or what I do. I most certainly don’t do this work to be widely accepted by people, as I’ve found this work challenges people from all walks of life. I do this work because it’s as natural to me as breathing, and I couldn’t imagine anything else for myself. 

Most importantly, I do this work for those who have suffered from devastating loss. There’s nothing I can do to bring a loved one back to life, but I can provide evidence that they carry on with us in a different form, and they’re always with us. I truly believe for those in spirit to rest in peace, we must do our best to live in peace. That’s the nature and responsibility of love. 

Will my loved one with whom I want to speak come through?

I connect to many people, and sometimes animals in Spirit. Due to the nature of this work, I can’t guarantee who will show up and who will not, though I can say Spirit shows up at every reading and communicates how they are and what their message is. I’ve discovered that Death is simply birth in reverse, and the “older” dead are the ones who come through first, followed by those who have recently passed over. It’s an acclimation process, just like it is for us over here.

I will never make promises. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t...it’s up to Spirit as to whether or not they come through. Often, the Spirits will speak with me before I have to call upon them, but it always has to be voluntary for the spirit. Sometimes, they won’t come through for different spiritual reasons. It’s important to remember that your spirits only want to come and say hello and offer comfort, closure, and love...they don’t want to scare you or upset you, so if they feel like you are becoming scared or uncomfortable with the process, they’ll often pull back their energy and stop communicating.

Can I ask questions of my loved ones?

You sure can! Consider me a channel, able to deliver information back and forth between you and them. All spirits are unique, just like we humans, and they may not give you answers to some of your questions. They will not interfere with your personal growth and experience in life by telling you what you should be doing. They’ll often offer their advice or guidance or even alert you to things you might need to be aware of in the future.

I also need my clients to remember that once I “open up,” I cannot control who shows up to speak. This could be the person you’re looking to speak with or someone completely random in your life. This is a rare and magical opportunity for all involved, and it’s understandable for people - on both sides! - to become excited! It may even be someone who’s an ancestor who knows who you are, but you might not have any idea who they are.

Please understand that I am just delivering the information and messages, and I may not personally understand them all. Most information is understandable, and some is not, but I will do my best to describe what is being shown to me. I don’t need you to give me information, but I might have you validate what’s coming through so I can better understand the information that I’m being given.

Can you tell my mom, my dad, my husband, etc…?

I often get this request and it’s important for people to know that their loved ones are always with them, and can always hear you. They know when you’re speaking out loud to them, thinking about them, looking at pictures of them or otherwise honoring them in any other way, like wearing their jewelry. They’re always with you, and you don’t need a medium to speak with them, only to hear from them. Talk to them, they’re always with you and always listening!

How do I “hear” the information coming through?

When I hear information and names, please keep in mind that I am not hearing them with my ears, as I am hearing someone when they speak. I am “hearing” them in thought. I’ll hear names of people, places, nicknames, and sometimes even pet names. Sometimes, I’ll hear sounds in the name that make me feel like I’m hearing other names. For example, “Mickey” might be “Nicky.” This is definitely not an exact science!!

Spirits may not always tell me who they are, for example, a “mother” a “mother-in-law” or a “step-mother” may all feel the same to me. Sometimes they clearly communicate who they are, sometimes they don’t. You can even have people show up that are part of a family from an ex-husband or ex-wife - they’re still connected to you as family. If they show up during a reading, please be receptive to them, as they may be showing up to offer apologies or ask forgiveness.

What about “bad” or “evil” spirits?

In my years as a professional psychic medium, I’ve never encountered an “evil” spirit. Many people misunderstand what a Medium does and how it works, and that’s understandable when a person comes from a very strict or religious background. I never fear my dealings with the spirit realm, nor should you. Some spirits are “higher vibration” than others, while others have many lessons still to learn. We are all protected and stand in the light of Spirit.

I can only speak from my own experience. Nothing negative or fearful comes through in any way, and I’ve never felt the presence of anything or anyone evil. I do believe there are different “levels” to souls, as some exist at a higher vibration of love, while others still have many lessons to learn. I have had souls who have made incredible mistakes in life come through, only to apologize and explain what they’ve learned on the other side. No hate or grudges exist in the world of Spirit, only an abundance of compassion and understanding, even if your spitfire gram or grumpy grandfather comes through showing off that side of their personality.

What about predicting the future?

Some of my clients are interested in communicating with spirits, and some simply want clarity and insight into their lives on the physical plane. I am able to look into the future, but not in the way that most people commonly would think. First of all, NO psychics can foresee the future 100% of the time with 100% accuracy, and if they say that they can, they’re not telling you the truth. What I see is probabilities, possibilities, and pathways into your future. I can also get a sense of the major energies - both spiritually and physically - that you might come into contact with soon.

Remember that you are writing your future every moment with your thoughts and actions and you can change direction anytime. Your life results from a series of choices and the result of those decisions made around those choices. My work is to provide you with insight into those choices that arise through opportunities and obstacles in your life.

No matter what - the choice MUST be, and always is yours to make.

He’s a medium. Shouldn’t he know that?

Absolutely not. I am human, just like you. I make mistakes like everyone else and have my own struggles. I absolutely don’t know everything. Just because I’m Clairvoyant, or “clear seeing,” doesn’t mean I’m all-seeing or all-knowing. During a reading, I only know what information your loved ones provide me. I can be wrong and I am most definitely not “on” in the grocery store, while out to eat, etc. It can be draining, and it doesn’t align with my values to read someone unless the invitation is there. I also don’t encourage reading for people who I know personally. I would prefer to know nothing about the person I am about to read.

My Gift

People always tell me that I have a “gift.” And I believe I do — a gift that was given to me by my ancestors and ultimately by Spirit. I refer to it as a gift rather than an ability, as I believe a gift like the one I have must be used to benefit my fellow humans. If there’s any point to clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and all the other senses I have, it’s to help others.

As I use my gift, I am bringing gifts to others — gifts of insight, knowledge, change, and the last words from a loved one.
